    The Ultra Centrifugal Mill ZM 200 is a high speed rotor mill with unmatched performance. It is used for the rapid size reduction of soft to medium-hard and fibrous materials.

    Because of the efficient size reduction technique the ZM 200 ensures the gentle preparation of analytical samples in a very short time. The comprehensive range of accessories including a large variety of ring sieves and rotors as well as collection systems makes the Ultra Centrifugal Mill a versatile instrument that can be easily adapted to varying applications. The optional Vibratory Feeder is load-controlled via an interface and ensures a uniform grind at maximum output rate. When using a cyclone, the sample material is additionally cooled by the air stream and more rapidly discharged from the grinding chamber via the cassette pan with outlet.     Function Principle

    In the Ultra Centrifugal Mill ZM 200 size reduction takes place by impact and shearing effects between the rotor and the fixed ring sieve. The feed material passes through the hopper (with splash-back protection) onto the rotor. Centrifugal acceleration throws it outward with great energy and it is precrushed on impact with the wedge-shaped rotor teeth moving at a high speed. It is then finely ground between the rotor and the ring sieve. This 2-step grinding ensures particularly gentle but fast processing. The feed material only remains in the grinding chamber for a very short time, which means that the characteristic features of the sample to be determined are not altered. The ground sample is collected in the collecting cassette surrounding the grinding chamber or in the downstream cyclone or paper filter bag.

    Function Principle

    A high-frequency generator in the ultrasonic bath produces about 35000 oscillations per second, which are transferred into the cleaning solution and cause it to resonate. The energy density of the sound field is so high that a cavitation effect sets in. Innumerable extremely small vacuum bubbles develop in the ultrasonic bath and collapse in microseconds due to pressure and suction.     Function Principle

    Drying in the Fluid Bed Dryer TG 200 makes use of the fluidized bed process, a technique similar to the one used in large industrial dryers. Ambient air is drawn in through a filter. A blower moves the air across the heating elements, and ultimately forces it through the perforated plate and into the detachable drying container. The solid particles are blown upward and dispersed and thus kept separate from one another. This helps to avoid a caking and sticking of the particles as it often occurs when other drying methods are used.

    The air stream of the fluid bed dryer extracts moisture from the particles and then exits through the filter bag in the cover. Using the quick-clamp cover with the filter fleece insert is advisable when dealing with products finer than 100 μm in diameter. The 1000 watt blower provides an air volume of 185 m3/h at idle speed; heater output is 2000 watts. The air volume, heating power and temperature are infinitely adjustable. Temperature control is effected using he display gauge.

    Function Principle

    Parameter entry
    All available parameters (such as sieve stack configuration, dead weight of the sieve, sieve shaker settings) as well as the characteristics, which may have to be calculated, can be entered by clicking with the mouse in the corresponding fields.

    Sieve analysis
    The program accepts automatic and manual data entries from both scale and sieve system. All RETSCH sieve shakers of the series “control” can be automatically controlled with EasySieve®. After the sieve analysis is completed, the loaded sieves are reweighed. By determining the weight difference, the program automatically detects the mass proportions and assigns them accordingly to the corresponding fractions.

    Evaluation
    The EasySieve software calculates all common particle distributions as well as the characteristic values of the particle size, thus making it possible to present the results in standard presentation forms, such as tables and charts. Cumulative throughput or residual values, distribution density and histograms can be included in the standard particle size distributions.

    Cutting mills are suitable for the grinding of soft, medium-hard, tough, elastic, fibrous, and heterogeneous mixes of products. The Cutting Mill SM 400 is ideally suited for pre-cutting of large sample pieces but, depending on the application,  may also achieve the required fineness in one step.

    The high torque of the new 3 kW drive allows for an exceptionally effective preliminary size reduction of heterogeneous mixtures, such as waste or electronic components.

    The cutting mill is used successfully for a great variety of materials.     In the 6-disc rotor, spirally arranged reversible hard metal plates operate by cutting in sequence.

    Cutting mills are suitable for the grinding of soft, medium-hard, elastic, fibrous, and heterogeneous mixes of products. The new cutting mill SM 200 is a powerful and easy-to-operate instrument for efficient primary and fine size reduction. Cleaning is made particularly easy.

    Within the group of the cutting mills, it is the universal standard model which covers a vast range of applications with its strong 2.2 kW drive and 1,500 rpm rotor speed. When operated with the optional cyclone-suction-combination, the SM 200 is also suitable for grinding light sample materials or smaller quantities. In combination with the wide choice of bottom sieves, hoppers and collecting vessels, the mill can be easily adapted to varying application requirements.

    Function Principle

    Size reduction in the Cutting Mill SM 200 takes place by cutting and shearing forces. The sample comes into contact with the rotor, and is comminuted between the blades and the stationary double acting cutting bars inserted in the housing.

    In the 6-disc rotor, spirally arranged reversible hard metal plates operate by cutting in sequence. The knives of the parallel section rotor carry out comminution with a powerful cutting action. The dwelling time of the sample in the chamber is short; as soon as it is small enough to pass through the openings of the bottom sieve it is discharged and collected in the receptacle. The rotorspeed of 1.500 min-1 ensures gentle and rapid size reduction.  The optional cyclone-suction-combination not only has a cooling effect on the sample but also improves the discharge of material from the grinding chamber.
