    • Operation with 2 grinding jars
    • Easy installation of grinding jars
    • Jars with integrated safety closure
    • Range of jar materials allow for contamination free grinding

    Function Principle

The novel size reduction mechanism of the Emax unites the advantages of different mill types: high-frequency impact (mixer mill), intensive friction (vibratory disc mill) and controlled circular jar movements (planetary ball mill) allow for unrivaled grinding performance. This unique combination is generated by the oval shape and the movement of the grinding jars. The grinding jar supports are mounted on two discs respectively which turn in the same direction. As a result, the jars move on a circular course without changing their orientation.

The interplay of jar geometry and movement causes strong friction between grinding balls, sample material and jar walls as well as a rapid acceleration which lets the balls impact with great force on the sample at the rounded ends of the jars. This significantly improves the mixing of the particles resulting in smaller grind sizes and a narrower particle size distribution than has been possible to achieve in ball mills so far.

Planetary Ball Mills are used wherever the highest degree of fineness is required. Apart from the classical mixing and size reduction processes, the mills also meet all the technical requirements for colloidal grinding and have the energy input necessary for mechanical alloying processes. The extremely high centrifugal forces of a planetary ball mill result in very high pulverization energy and therefore short grinding times.

The PM 200 is a convenient bench top model with 2 grinding stations.

You may also be interested in the High Energy Ball Mill Emax, an entirely new type of mill for high energy input. The unique combination of high friction and impact results in extremely fine particles within the shortest amount of time.

    Application Examples

Alloys, Bentonite, Bones, Carbon Fibres, Catalysts, Cellulose, Cement Clinker, Ceramics, Charcoal, Chemical Products, Clay Minerals, Coal, Coke, Concrete, Compost, Electronic Scrap, Fibres, Glass…

    Product Advantages

    • Powerful and quick grinding down to nano range
    • Reproducible results due to energy and speed control
    • Suitable for long-term trials
    • 2 different grinding modes (dry and wet)
    • Wide range of materials for contamination free grinding
    • Safety Slider for safe operation
    • Comfortable parameter setting via display and ergonomic 1-button operation
    • Automatic grinding chamber ventilation
    • 10 SOPs can be stored
    • Programmable starting time
    • Power failure backup ensures storage of remaining grinding time
    • Jars with O-type sealing for safe operation, pressure tight

    Function Principle

The grinding jars are arranged eccentrically on the sun wheel of the planetary ball mill. The direction of movement of the sun wheel is opposite to that of the grinding jars in the ratio 1:-2.

The grinding balls in the grinding jars are subjected to superimposed rotational movements, the so-called Coriolis forces. The difference in speeds between the balls and grinding jars produces an interaction between frictional and impact forces, which releases high dynamic energies. The interplay between these forces produces the high and very effective degree of size reduction of the planetary ball mill.

The Mortar Grinder RM 200 can mix and homogenize powders, suspension and pastes, even for samples with high viscosity. The RM 200 is suitable for the proper and reproducible sample preparation to analytical fineness.

The sample grinder substitutes cumbersome hand mortars by a high performance drive with electronic control. The grinding set can be cooled and heated and is very easy to clean. Grinding sets of various material qualities are available which can be exchanged easily for optimum adaptation to various grinding tasks.

    Application Examples

Ashes, Cement Clinker, Chemical Products, Coal, Cocoa Nibs, Coke, Drugs, Food, Homeopathic Materials, Nuts, Pharmaceutical Materials, Plant Materials…

    Product Advantages

    • Dry, wet and cryogenic grinding
    • Reproducible results due to adjustable pestle and scraper pressure
    • Closed, dust tight grinding chamber with windows
    • Easy exchange of mortar and pestle without tools
    • Performance display for load control
    • Adjustable pestle and scraper pressure
    • Wide range of materials for contamination free grinding
    • 3 scraper materials (PU, beech wood, PTFE)
    • Pestle speed 100 rpm

    Function Principle

The Mortar Grinder RM 200 comminutes, mixes and triturates by pressure and friction. The function of the scraper is to feed the sample material into the area between the mortar and pestle. This forced feed ensures that the whole of the sample is continuously subjected to the grinding and trituration process and is also intensively mixed.

The grinder pestle is not located in the center of the mortar but is offset; contact with the rotating mortar and the sample causes it to rotate automatically. The necessary grinding pressure is achieved by the weight of the pestle itself combined with the adjustable spring pressure acting on its axis.
